
NVF's initial targeted states for 2007 include: Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Virginia.
Targeted states for 2008 include: Florida, Louisiana, Michigan, New Mexico, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia.
The program being developed is centered on seven areas of concentration:
- Building capacity of C 4 state operations for coordinating voter registration, issue advocacy and voter mobilization campaigns.
- Adhering to recognized voter contact industry standards for precinct-based voter registration accountability standards with benchmarks, centralized data management and program evaluation methods.
- Providing absentee ballot, early vote and election protection services through the 866-MYVOTE1 hotline.
- Providing technical assistance, training, and performance grants to NAACP local units and allies.
- Utilizing NAACP and other state and local organizations and activists in building a consistent national, regional and/or state based staff in targeted states.
- Utilizing voter guides and issue advertising in African-American media, including newspapers, magazines, online vehicles, radio, and targeted television.
- To reach African-American voters with compelling messages and candidate information to make more informed decisions.
