The goal of NVF's voter outreach program is to build upon past voter engagement successes and incorporate best practices and lessons learned from our efforts during the past two Presidential election cycles.
NVF is now using the latest techniques to reach voters through popular mediums, including use of Catalyst voter files, micro-targeting, web-based voter outreach and messaging, as well as traditional methods such as urban radio, community-based print ads, and special events.
For the 2007-2008 election cycles, NVF is involved in a number of collaborative partnerships that will mobilize millions of voters:
866-MYVOTE1
This hotline service will allow NVF to incorporate election protection services within its state voter outreach operations. A voter chase program will be developed to facilitate targeted voter registration, absentee ballot, early vote, and poll location services. Learn more about this program.
2 MILLION+ VOTERS FOR PROGRESS
This C3 and C4 effort will register, educate, and mobilize over 2 million African-American and immigrant voters over the next 18 months in 12 targeted States.
THE BLACK CAMPAIGN FUND
NVF will establish a C4 voter mobilization partnership with The Black Campaign. The Black Campaign Fund will be a newly-aligned coalition of African-American institutions seeking to mobilize voters in 2007 and early 2008 through the financial support of African-American corporate, individual, and organizational dollars and resources. Under the plan, NVF will develop get-out-the-vote outreach and election protection programs in Louisiana, Mississippi, Virginia, and Kentucky working in partnership with NAACP state conferences, the Black Campaign, and other allies to assist in their voter registration, training, and turnout efforts.
TOM JOYNER MORNING SHOW/REACH MEDIA
In 2000, NVF developed a partnership with the nation's leading syndicated African-American radio program that assisted in the registration of over 90,000 voters and the recruitment of thousands of volunteers nationwide. In 2008 this partnership will be renewed to promote the 866-MYVOTE1 election protection and services.
CAMPAIGN FOR COMMUNITIES
NVF will work with coalition partners Earth Day Network and Southwest Voter Registration Project to participate in the Campaign for Communities. Our participation supports black-brown initiatives regarding climate change, the impact of natural disasters on minority communities, and other environmental justice issues.
AMERICA VOTES
Through NVF’s 527, Americans for Equality, we will engage with America Votes for participation in trainings, data management, research, polling/research, and targeted voter outreach programs. NVF will also help diversify America Votes state tables in Michigan, Ohio, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.
